New Pope

It's going to be Joseph Ratzinger, who was Pope John Paul II's close personal friend, and the papacies will likely be very similar. He's taking the title Boniface XVI.

I'm not sure what to think. This ensures that the Catholic church will stay in the right with regard to abortion, gay marriage, and some other important moral issues. But the church's theology and doctrine as a whole are far from the truth, and the papacy itself is offensive to me. Maybe I should be happy that it could have been worse, or maybe I should be disgusted that the office of pope continues. . .

Hiya, I'm back in the blogging world :) Yeah, not quite sure what I think of the pope, but as a born-again believer myself, I believe when Jesus died on the cross, He became our direct link to God. I should do a blog sometime how I see direct similarities with Judaism and Catholicism in terms of the legalism. They both place rules/legalism in between them and God. While God wants to have a personal, one on one relationship with us. Jesus eradicated that barrier (sin/eternal seperation), but you have to be willing to accept Him as Lord and Savior. Its easier from some people to accept Jesus Christ as Savior, if they can hide behind someone else determining their right & wrong, so they can just do what they want and use Jesus as a "get out of hell" free card. Hope this make sense...
