New Protest Warrior Event

Who's interested in this? Seriously, I need to know who would be willing/able to go. If you can, please contact me.

Protest Warriors-This coming Saturday, at my church (Moody Church-Clark& North), at noon some lesbian organization will protest my church's opposition to gay-marriage. From what I hear, next Saturday is "right to marriage day" and there may be demonstrations going on throughout the city, or for that matter, the whole Country. I am sure that Moody Church was singled out because of our evangelical teachings, but there may be other churches on the list as well. So, just a heads up.

I do not know much more about the specifics of the protest- and I will be out of town Feb 12th, so I cannot help. Let me know if I can help find out more information, particularly if some warriors have time to confront these angry women.

Thanks,Mike Manning

UPDATE: Just a notice -- there's a good chance that this isn't going to be an 'official' PW operation, but there should be PW'ers showing up in an unofficial capacity.

Hi, I go to Moody Bible Institute, and our dean made an announcement today about the protest. He made a very poignant and wise point that we shouldn't engage them in discussion because this is not the place to change their minds. Also, the thing the media wants to cover is us having a negative response to this. I think we should use this as an opportunity to convey's Christ's love, and not act on our knee-jerk emotions.

Hey Anonymous,

After thinking about it, I changed my initial plan of showing up to counter-protest. What I've been considering for the past couple days is showing up without any threatening/belligerent signs, shirts or intentions, and trying to start a dialogue. I'd like to ask them what their goal is in the protest, what their goal is in total, and what they want Moody to do in reaction to the protest. I'd like to see what the Socratic method, combined with prayer, can do . . .

In all honesty, I don't agree with either of the major sides, although I definitely love and support Moody :). I was at Evans's sermon last week! My thought on the issue of marriage is that it should be somehow taken out of the hands of the government altogether. As Christians, whose opinion should we care about in terms of marriage? I'd definitely say the church before the government.

I hope you come back and read this, and maybe let me know if you still think my showing up would be wrong.
